JBT Transport is launching the public phase of the Stuff-A-JBT-Truck campaign this month. On Saturday June 25, JBT will be on location at Zehrs Hiway Centre in Kitchener (1375 Weber St. East) as well as Sunday June 26 at Foodland Ayr (1011 Northumberland St) collecting donations from the public. Both events run from 9 AM – 3 PM and a fundraising BBQ will be included at the Foodland Ayr event.
“We are excited to announce the next phase of our campaign,” says Stuff-A-JBT-Truck coordinator Natalie Martin. “We’ve had a warm response from local businesses in Waterloo Region who have been busy over the last month collecting donations. Now we are opening the door for the public to get involved and lend their support.”
JBT is asking the public to come out and support the folks of Fort McMurray by dropping off new donation items as well as non-perishable food items. For a complete list of suggested items click here.
JBT Transport is donating the transportation that will deliver the items collected through Stuff-A-JBT-Truck to their partners on the ground – Edmonton Emergency Relief Services Society and Edmonton’s Food Bank. These organizations continue to provide relief assistance to the residents of Fort McMurray whose lives have been impacted by the devastating wildfires in Northern AB. JBT is also set up to receive monetary contributions on behalf of Canadian Red Cross. Donated items and financial contributions will be accepted by JBT until June 30, 2016.
Over 80,000 people were evacuated from the Fort McMurray area in May 2016. Phased and voluntary reentry commenced on June 1st. Items donated through Stuff-A-JBT-Truck will support residents who are currently displaced as well as families and individuals who have returned to the community.
If members of the public would like to contribute donations, but are unable to drop off on the public event days (June 25 & 26), JBT is accepting drop-offs before June 30 at their office – 235 Waydom Dr, RR 1, Ayr ON, Mon-Fri from 8-5. There is a list of other public drop off locations in the area online. JBT Transport can also make arrangements to pick up donated items as needed. Please give generously!
